About Me

Headshot of Green Mt. Friar

Greetings! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I use this page as a digital newsletter about my spiritual direction practice and as a place to share professional updates. You can read more about my spiritual direction practice here, and book appointments with me here for direction, Focalizing, retreats, or workshops.

Ministry:

Brother- My primary calling is to live in community as a Franciscan, following Jesus in the little way of St. Francis and St. Clare. My community life is within the Order of Ecumenical Franciscans, a Third Order for Christians of any denomination or tradition, with members embodying a mix of secular (family householders) and regular (close or intentional community). I’ve been life professed since 2014 and during my time with the order, I have served as the community Scribe, as the Formation Coordinator, as a formation companion for postulants and novices, and now as one of the order’s representatives to the Joint Committee on Franciscan Unity. This calling stands at the core of my work in the world, pursuing a life that seeks to promote justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.

Chaplain- One way I live out this life is serving as a chaplain called to serve the unhoused community of my home state of Vermont. I am so grateful to the Progressive Christian Alliance for supporting me in this work through fellowship, inspiration, collegiality, and public recognition. For five years, this took the form of being the a founding chaplain and trainer for a street outreach ministry known as Faith on Foot, which was deeply connected with a daytime welcome space, now known as Rutland Neighbors. I loved that time and learned a great deal about what it meant to walk with my neighbors in solidarity and compassion.

Social Worker & Grant Writer- I am fortunate to be able to serve a dynamic and caring organization called COTS as their grant writer and foundation specialist. Gathering resources to attend to the wounds of people who face the daily violence of poverty and homelessness in a beautiful, but rugged place like Vermont has been a gift. I work with a lovely team of dedicated fundraisers, have the privilege of knowing so many of the staff, and have frequent opportunities to be a supportive anchor for the organization. I’m especially proud of the work I poured into securing a new and better home for our adult overnight shelter. As a part of this work I hold a certificate in Philanthropic Psychology from the Institute for Sustainable Philanthropy.

Spiritual Director- I am trained in the arts of Spiritual Direction and Companionship, a form of deep and careful listening. I completed a practicum through Still Harbor in Boston, MA, coursework in trauma informed care provision through Notice the Journey, and I am a certified Focalizing Practitioner through the Focalizing Institute in New York, NY. I am a member of Spiritual Directors International and have been both a student and a teacher in their continuing education program. I participate regularly in peer supervision with a group from Bethany House in Arlington, MA. I attend both the Hartford Seminary, now Hartford International University, and The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, now a campus of United Lutheran Seminary, earning my Master’s of Divinity in 2006. I have been ordained since 2007, serving parishes in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont along the way.

Member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church- Since 2021, when I transitioned into my work as a chaplain and social worker, I have been a regular participant of the “church in the cloud” at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Brattleboro, VT. I love the liturgy, grounding in contemplative practice, and the rich variety of ministries driven by a very active laity. I’ve had the privilege of preaching for the congregation, both for Pride Sunday, and for the Commemoration of St. Francis, which is the capstone of the Season of Creation. I have also served as a spiritual director for members of the congregation and as a supporter of the Skyberry House initiative. I’m so grateful for the collegiality and pastoral care I’ve received from this community.
